Relocating to the Bay Area is worth it in my opinion. I've lived here my entire life. So did my mother and father and both of his parents. It has been a wonderful experience.
The Bay Area is full of wonderful activities, nearby weekend getaways, recreational opportunities, wonderful skylines and a wonderful climate. Although our weather temperature can vary a great deal in the summer and some what in the winter depending on where you live. The warmest time of year around all of the Bay Area is usually in September and October. The inland areas, like Pleasanton, Walnut Creek, Concord and Livermore can get very warm during the summer, but the ocean breeze usually makes for a comfortable evening. Cities like Oakland, Berkeley, San Leandro and Alameda are much cooler with summer time temperatures around 75 degrees on average. San Francisco can be about 10 degrees cooler.
As wonderful as the Bay Area is, it does have it's challenges. Amongst those challenges, the housing market is competitive, commute times require patients (sometimes a lot), and the degree of homelessness and crime vary from city to city and neighborhood to neighborhood.

Working with a realtor like myself who will listen to your wants and needs, then apply them to the ideal city and neighborhood for you will make the home buying and relocating process much more comforting and reassuring.
